1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the LocalSub Chrome extension ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

LocalSub is a Chrome extension that transcribes YouTube videos and translates their subtitles into your chosen language, using AI models that run locally inside your browser. Features include but are not limited to:

  • Reading the video's existing caption track, including auto-generated captions
  • Local speech-to-text transcription with Whisper when a video has no captions
  • Local translation with NLLB-200 into 19 target languages
  • A side-panel transcript with clickable timestamps that seek the video
  • Bilingual rendering showing the translation above the original line
  • SRT and TXT export in bilingual, translation-only, or original mode

3. Service Tiers

The Service is offered in two tiers:

  • Free Tier: Up to 5 videos transcribed and translated per day. All languages, the bilingual side panel, and SRT and TXT export are included.
  • Pro Tier: Unlimited videos per day with no cap on transcription, translation, or export — available through Monthly ($12.99/month), Annual ($129/year), or Lifetime ($79 one-time) plans.

4. User Responsibilities

By using the Service, you agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws
  • Comply with YouTube's and Google's terms of service and all applicable laws
  • Not use the Service for unauthorized data collection or any malicious activities
  • Not attempt to circumvent free-tier limits or technical restrictions
  • Respect the copyright of the videos you transcribe, and use the resulting transcripts and subtitle files only in ways permitted by the rights holder and by law
  • Accept full responsibility for how you store, use, publish, or share transcripts and subtitle files produced with the Service

5. Data Usage and Privacy

The Service processes the caption track and audio of the video you are watching inside your browser. Transcription and translation run locally on your device. We do not:

  • Require, request, or store your Google or YouTube account credentials
  • Upload your audio or your transcripts to our servers
  • Collect your watch history or the URLs you visit
  • Collect personal information beyond what is necessary for Pro subscription management (email and Pro access token)
  • Share your data with third parties, except for Stripe (payment processing) and Cloudflare (hosting)

6. Premium Subscription and Payments

Premium subscriptions are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate payment information
  • Authorize recurring charges for monthly or annual plans until cancelled
  • The pricing terms displayed at the time of purchase

Premium access tokens are for personal use only and may not be shared or transferred to other users.

7. Refund Policy

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for all premium plans. If you are not satisfied with the Service within 14 days of purchase, contact us at support@aikc.net for a full refund.

8. Cancellation

You may cancel your premium subscription at any time. For monthly and annual subscriptions:

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
  • You retain premium access until the end of your paid period
  • No partial refunds are provided for unused time

Lifetime subscriptions do not require cancellation and provide perpetual access.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service
  • Compatibility with future versions of Chrome or YouTube
  • That every video will be transcribable, since some videos have neither captions nor an accessible audio stream
  • Any specific accuracy of the transcription or the translation, or any specific processing speed — both depend on the audio quality and on your device's hardware

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data or files
  • Actions taken by Google or YouTube based on your use of the Service
  • Any consequences resulting from transcripts or subtitle files produced with the Service, including errors in transcription or translation

11. Modifications to Service and Terms

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the Service at any time
  • Update these Terms of Service with reasonable notice
  • Change pricing for new subscriptions

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for:

  • Violation of these Terms of Service
  • Abuse of the Service or other users
  • Any other reason at our sole discretion
